This session will feature an interactive feature for the crowd as we discuss the intricacies of investing per the Ohio Revised Code and the importance of establishing an investment plan which can be adjusted to meet changing investment markets. While similar to prior year’s popular format, we will be changing up the particulars of the interactive format for this year’s presentation. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage bringing real life experiences into the presentation. 

Jennifer Trowbridge

Co-Founder, Portfolio Manager, RedTree Investment Group

Jennifer is a Managing Principal and Portfolio Manager at RedTree Investment Group. She has been in the investment industry for over 20 years with a primary focus on the fixed income markets. For nearly 15 years, her experience has been centered around developing fixed income investment strategies for public entities, in particular for Ohio Schools. At RedTree, she is responsible for the implementation of each client’s specific investment strategy and portfolio risk management.

Jennifer earned her undergraduate and MBA degrees in Finance from Xavier University.  She has received the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

Ryan Nelson

Managing Principal & Portfolio Manager, RedTree Investment Group

Ryan is a Co-Founder and Portfolio Manager at RedTree Investment Group. He has over 25 years of investment experience in the fixed income markets. Specifically, over the past 19 years, Ryan has been assisting public entities and other agencies with their fixed income investment needs. At RedTree, he is responsible for overseeing the firm’s investment process along with communication of the unique investment strategies for the firm’s clients.

Ryan obtained his undergraduate degree in Accounting from the University of Kentucky and his MBA in Finance from Xavier University. He has received the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and is a current member of the CFA Institute. He currently serves on the Ohio GFOA Board and is on their Education Committee. 

Jenni Logan

Treasurer/CFO, Sycamore Community City Schools

Jenni Logan is the Treasurer/CFO of Sycamore Community City Schools. Prior to this, she was the treasurer/CFO at District Lakota Local School District January 2011 to August 2022.  Before that she was a Director in the Public Finance Department of Robert W. Baird & Co.  Ms. Logan has over 20 years of experience serving school districts in Ohio, which include an ESC, JVSD, CSD, LSD and an EVSD.  She has been involved with several state committees for OASBO and served the organization as its state president in 2005-06.    

  

Shaunna Tafelski

Treasurer, Talawanda City SD

Shaunna Tafelski joined the Talawanda City School District as Treasurer/CFO in August 2020 after serving the district as Assistant Treasurer for fourteen years.    She oversees the financial operations of the district with a general fund budget of $38 million dollars; including all financial reporting, treasury and cash management, stakeholder relations, and construction project management. 

Shaunna received her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN.  She is a long time member of OASBO and its Southwest Ohio Chapter.

Mike Mestemaker

Vice President, Huntington National Bank

Mike Mestemaker is Vice President and experienced Relationship Manager for Huntington Bank’s Government Banking Division. In this capacity, Mike is responsible for the retention, maintaining, deepening and growing of business with political subdivisions in the greater Cincinnati, Dayton, Springfield, Southwest and Southeast Ohio markets, as well as in the Northern Kentucky markets by providing Huntington Bank’s full array of Commercial and Financial services and products. These services and products include Treasury Management, Cash Management, Investment, Leasing, Public Finance, Trust, Merchant, Commercial Card, Insurance, and Depository Products and Services to Government Entities.  Mike began his career in Government Banking in October of 2000 and has over 20 years of banking and relationship management experience in Government Banking, Correspondent Banking, and Business Banking, as well as being well versed in Treasury Management and Merchant Banking Services. Mike was elected to 6 consecutive terms as both a member of City Council and Vice Mayor for the City of Cheviot, Ohio. This experience prepared Mike for a successful career in Government Banking with regards to the needs and specific requirements that Ohio Public Entities must abide by the Ohio Revised Code. 

Mike began his career with Huntington Bank on January 26, 2016 and has a Bachelor’s in Communication Degree from Bowling Green State University.
