People spend 90% of their time indoors where air is typically 10 times more contaminated. An estimated 25M Americans have asthma, a major cause of absenteeism in schools accounting for nearly 14M missed school days per year in the US. Whether it is the flu, COVID19, MRSA, germs, mold, mildew, or bacteria, we all want to be proactive about protecting the health of all occupants. What can happen inside when the building is unoccupied? This is a panel conversation on Healthy Buildings covering the importance of indoor air quality and proper water treatment and what should be considered to operate a healthy building. Speakers will dive into filtration, ventilation, HVAC system cleaning/disinfecting, and UV-C or ionization units. Speakers will cover the importance of proactive monitoring of water systems. COVID-19 plus empty buildings equals stagnant water which equals increased risk for Legionella. How do breaks in usage impact your system. Finally, the presentation will address how IAQ is directly related to both student and teacher/staff member performance outcomes and driving home the long-term value of high-quality operations and maintenance practices.
