Dr. Fay Y Lin, Cardiologist and Epidemiologist from Cornell's Medical School,  along with Dr. Shonda Huery Hardman, EdD, former Chief of School for Houston ISD, will provide their best guidance on what to expect this fall as you start the 21-22 school year. There will be a rich discussion on what guidelines they expect will be in place from the CDC, how vaccinations and PPE will impact schools and budgets next year.  Additionally, they will look at two specific areas of spending opportunities for ESSER Funds and provide guidance of what to look for and questions to ask when making investment decisions.  Participants will also be to ask questions of these two leading experts in the Medical and Academic fields.

Dr. Fay Lin

Professor, Cornell University Medical School

Dr. Fay Y. Lin MD is a respected and experienced educator, epidemiologist, and cardiologist. After graduating magna cum laude from Harvard University, Dr. Lin attended Johns Hopkins University where she received her medical degree. She completed her cardiology fellowship at Cornell Medical School. Additionally, she trained in epidemiology at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Dr. Lin currently serves as a professor at the Cornell University Medical School. Applying her decades of experience in medicine, epidemiology, and education, Dr. Lin works with schools and universities to help create safety plans and advice on the measures and supplies needed to return safely and with confidence.

Dr. Shonda Huery Hardman

School District Coach/ Consultant

Dr. Shonda Huery-Hardman EdD has served students in urban school districts for the last twenty-five years. Dr. Huery-Hardman served as a Network Chief in Chicago Public School where she coached, supervised, and supported principals. Most recently, she served as a Chief of Schools in Houston ISD, where she was responsible for leading 284 schools. She holds Master’s degrees in Education Administration as well as Education Policy and Planning. She received her doctorate from Harvard University in 2010, where her research focused on understanding the behaviors of exemplary middle school teachers serving students in high-poverty middle schools. Dr. Huery-Hardman knowledge and expertise in education allows Protect|ED to ensure that PPE products are vetted to reflect the specific needs of a school setting.
