Transitioning into a New School District – The Treasurer on the Move

This is presentation is a combination of case study and best practices on how to make an effective and efficient transition into the role of Treasurer/CFO in a new school district. Using a combination of experiences from a new (less than two years) treasurer, moderately experienced treasurer (less than five years) and an experienced treasurer (more than 10 years) the participants will get a review of the the tasks and challenges to transitioning into a new fiscal office. The presentation will not just focus on the transactional steps but include the leadership components necessary to build the initial foundation of relationships and institutional culture to to ensure getting started on the correct path. The session will be part presentation and a lot of discussion.
Treasurer/CFO, Huron City Schools
Randy joined the Huron City School District team beginning service in June 2019 as Treasurer/CFO for the district. Randy comes to Huron City after serving as Treasurer/CFO for the Bright Local School District since August of 2016. Randy has used his skills as an educator in management & finance and business leader to improve fiscal office and district operations and improve communications with the Board of Education and public.
Treasurer, Amanda-Clearcreek Local SD
Lana joined the Amanda-Clearcreek team in November 2020 as the Treasurer/CFO. Previously she served the Bright Local School District in Highland County as the Treasurer/CFO and the Chillicothe City School District as Human Resources Director and Assistant to the Superintendent for Operations. Prior to public service, Lana worked in the private sector in Marketing, Operations and Management. She has served on numerous community boards and has served as an elected official as a City Councilperson. Lana has used her experience and knowledge to improve the fiscal office and district operations. She strives to continuously improve communications with the board and the community.
