This seminar is designed to ensure financial staff performing duties associated with payroll and benefits are up to date on reporting and compliance requirements as well as understand health insurance trends, software upgrades, and legal and compliance issues.

** Note that a virtual option is available for both Accounts Payable and Payroll, but only for the Central Region dates. If you live in another region but would like to attend these workshops virtually, please register for the Central Region workshop, and select the virtual option.

Patty Gordon

Employer Education Sr. Coordinator, STRS

Patty Gordon is an Employer Education Sr. Coordinator with State Teachers Retirement System (STRS) of Ohio.  She’s been employed with STRS for 11 years, with eight of those years in Employer Education.  Prior to working for STRS, Patty was in Human Resources and Payroll.  She earned her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from The Ohio State University.  Growing up in Ohio, she has been a lifelong Buckeye fan.  She enjoys travelling with her husband and 2 daughters, gardening, baking and listening to music.

Todd Wolford

Employer Education Sr. Coordinator, STRS

Todd Wolford is an Employer Education Sr. Coordinator with STRS Ohio, where he develops and hosts training opportunities to assist STRS Ohio employers in all aspects of employer reporting.

Todd has worked with STRS Ohio for over 14 years and prior to his current position Todd was a Retirement Reporting Specialist and a Sr Reporting Coordinator where he became an expert in annual reporting, retirement reporting, and payroll reporting.  

In his free-time Todd enjoys coaching youth sports in the Columbus area and spending time with his family. 

Carlisa Holman

Supervisor-Employer Outreach, SERS

Carlisa Holman is the Supervisor of Employer Outreach at School Employees Retirement System of Ohio (SERS). She supervises the development of communications and education programs for Employers.  She has worked 20 years at SERS, prior to joining the Employer Services Department, Carlisa worked in the Member Services Department where she provided retirement education for the members and retirees. 

Dane Gaschen

Partner, Bricker & Eckler LLP

Dane Gaschen is a partner in Bricker & Eckler's Education group and practices both K-12 and higher education, as well as developmental disabilities law. His practice emphasizes the representation of educational entities on issues regarding employment law, collective bargaining, contract interpretation, labor relations, grievance arbitration, unfair labor practice charges, employment discrimination, litigation, and student rights and discipline.

Jason Stuckey

Associate, Bricker & Eckler

Jason Stuckey advises a multitude of public sector clients with a focus on school districts and higher education institutions. He advises clients on compliance with a wide array of issues including but not limited to federal and state labor and employment issues, employee disciplinary concerns, contract issues, licensure issues, FERPA issues, ethics issues, the Ohio Open Meetings Act, student-related disciplinary matters, residency and custody disputes, public records requests, FERPA, and the drafting and implementation of policies. Jason also has extensive experience representing clients in collective bargaining negotiations, labor arbitrations, and employee grievances. He has also represented clients before the Ohio Civil Rights Commission, state and federal courts; including the Court of Appeals. Jason has also advised higher education clients on Title IX and NCAA compliance issues.

Justin Rollins

Senior Plan Consultant, TSA Consulting Group

Mr. Rollins joined TSA Consulting Group in 2009.  As a Program Consultant he is responsible for various aspects of plan administration, including client and provider relations, plan document development and maintenance, and comprehensive plan evaluation.  His prior employment includes work in the life and health insurance industry. Mr. Rollins completed his education in 2008, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in General Studies at Valdosta State University.


Troy Stein

Professional Services Manager, SC Strategic Solutions

Troy Stein has been employed at SC Strategic Solutions since 2008.  Troy currently works with over 500 Ohio School Districts, Career Centers, and Educational Services Centers as an expert in records retention and business process management.  With a focus towards improving paper based processes, Troy has helped countless school districts migrate from paper documents to electronic records.  Using SCView (a web-based software application), Troy has helped build custom electronic forms and workflows for schools and helped them streamline processes to be more efficient.  Additionally, Troy has worked with countless offices throughout the state to build custom integrations with third party products to better improve process management and record-keeping. 

Lisa Stevens

Account Development Executive, American Fidelity

Lisa Stevens serves as an Account Development Executive at American Fidelity. She brings more than a decade of experience serving solely the education community.

In her role, Lisa works closely with school districts in Ohio to help develop employee benefit plans that meet their needs. She often speaks locally and nationally to associations, business managers, and superintendents on topics such as Section 125 Plan, & Other IRS Compliance, Properly Utilizing Reimbursement Accounts (HSAs, HRAs, FSAs), and Creative Strategies for Insurance Benefits. Lisa is known for her communication abilities and can simplify difficult topics and explain them in everyday language, making implementation and understanding compliance much easier.  

Having been nominated by her company for six consecutive years as Account Development Executive of the year, you can be assured that Lisa is a trusted resource for you and your school district.
