Unemployment Cost Control during the Pandemic

Discuss the challenges of unemployment during a pandemic.  Standard claim issues turn into Covid-19 issues and excessive fraud claims filed against your colleagues.  An overview of “what to expect from the unexpected” will provide necessary information impacting the districts and information on Reasonable Assurance.

This program will provide an overview of the Managed Care Organization, from primarily roles and responsibilities to best practices.  Specifically, it will cover proactive claims management strategies starting from the initial claim reporting through return to work.

Tony began his Ohio workers’ compensation career in 1997 managing a small but mighty Business Services team of colleagues.  He joined CompManagement, now Sedgwick, in 2009 as a Senior Analyst in their Rates and Underwriting Department.  In 2011 he transitioned to Client Services where he had oversight responsibilities of the Ohio SchoolComp Program, and he currently serves as AVP of Client Services with oversight responsibilities of many prominent Ohio workers’ compensation programs in both the private and public sectors.

Rejeana Woolum-Napier

Client Services Manager, Sedgwick

Rejeana Woolum-Napier is a Client Services Manager for Sedgwick. Rejeana has more than twenty years of experience in the Ohio Workers' Compensation industry; working with Ohio employers on claim resolution, cost containment strategies and overall risk management.  Currently, Rejeana works with various organizations and trade associations offering the best possible solutions within their current workers’ compensation programs. 

Prior to her current role, Rejeana has also worked in human resources, medical case management and safety consulting. During this time, she worked directly with Ohio employers regarding claim mitigation strategies, treatment authorizations, safe and timely return to work as well as on-site safety inspections. She also previously served on the Executive Board for the Safety Council of Greater Columbus.

Rejeana majored in political science at Columbus State Community College and has also completed extensive training in medical management and safety. She currently holds OSHA certifications in both construction and general industry. 
 

Roger Baker

Manager, Unemployment Insurance, Sedgwick

Since1994 Roger has been perfecting best practices in unemployment costcontrol.  His extensive training and experience have positioned him to effectively manage all aspects of unemployment, in all U.S. states and variousterritories.  He is a frequent facilitator for unemployment, often leading instructional engagements on unemployment cost control strategies for employers.  Currently he is a member of the World Speakers Association, the American Professional Speakers Association, the Ohio Speakers Association, and the International Association of Workforce Professionals.

Dave Jacobsen

Client Service Representative, Sedgwick MCO

Dave has been an MCO Account Executive since 2005 and during this time he has partnered with several Central-Ohio school districts.  Dave is a graduate of Wittenberg University and Syracuse University with a background in Counseling, and prior to being an Account Executive was a field case manager within the Ohio Vocational Rehabilitation program.

Kiesha Martin

Client Services Representative, Sedgwick MCO

Kiesha Martin has been an Account Executive with Sedgwick MCO since 2018, dedicated to simplifying the managed care process by assisting with controlling cost, client education and safety management programs.  Kiesha received a bachelor’s degree from Ohio Dominican University.  Kiesha has over 25 years’ experience in the workers compensation industry from claims management, hearings, self-insured and account management.
