The school bus driver shortage is a major challenge for school districts across the nation. How do you attract the right people to the position? How can you offer enough hours to make it worth an employee’s time? Are your rates and benefits competitive? Do you offer paid training? Once you hire a bus driver, how do you retain them?
Join OASBO, OAPT, BASA and OSBA for a webinar on Thursday, Sept. 23 at 11:00 am as we discuss hiring, rates, benefits, combining jobs, and retention. You will hear the results of a comprehensive survey conducted by OAPT of nearly 300 school districts from around the state, and then have the opportunity to join the dialogue to be part of short and longer-term solutions.

David Oglesby
Assistant Transportation Supervisor, Kettering City Schools & OAPT Second Vice President
David has been in the pupil transportation industry for nearly 21 years. He started out as a driver not realizing where it was going to take him. He has worked as a full-time On-Board Instructor, Assistant Supervisor, supervisor, Director and as an operations manager. He's worked with special needs students, for private companies that specialize in pupil transportation and worked for public school districts. He is currently the Assistant Transportation Supervisor for Kettering City Schools.
David is a member of OAPT and NAPT. He's sat on OAPT’s Executive Board for several years as a Director at Large, through the chairs to Past President. He is currently sitting as the 2nd Vice President for the second time. David is also a past stakeholder for the state rules committee.
He and his wife are blessed with two incredible children, Cooper and Reese. Every decision that David makes as a supervisor he tries to ask himself, “would I let my own child ride that bus or get on and off at that bus stop?” It is his daily goal to ensure that all children get to and from school in the safest way possible.
